NAC’s Motivational Interviewing (MI) training for frontline staff provides a practical introduction to Motivational Interviewing, an evidence-based, person-centered communication approach designed to strengthen motivation for change through collaboration, empathy, and purposeful conversation. Participants will explore the foundational principles of MI, including the Spirit of Motivational Interviewing and the Four Processes of MI: Engaging, Focusing, Evoking, and Planning. The training will also focus on developing core communication skills such as O.A.R.S. (Open-ended questions, Affirmations, Reflective listening, and Summaries), strengthening engagement with youth and families, navigating difficult conversations, and responding effectively to resistance and change talk. Through discussion, demonstrations, and interactive skill practice, participants will leave with practical tools they can immediately apply within their day-to-day work. Training Dates
